Bank Mellat has automatically extended the validity of electronic cards due to expire in March by three months, allowing customers to continue using banking services without visiting a branch, Ilna reported on March 29.
Cards with an expiry date of 01/1405 (local dates) were extended systemically at the end of the eighth of Farvardin, the Iranian month corresponding to March 21. Customers using the cards for online payments should enter 04/1405 as the new expiry date.
The bank said the measure was aimed at reducing the need for in-person branch visits during current conditions.
Banking services in Iran have been severly affected in recent weeks due to the war with Israel and America with banks being targeted in airstrikes.
