Việt Nam Sets $300bn digital tech revenue goal

Việt Nam Sets $300bn digital tech revenue goal
May 14, 2026

Vietnam is targeting annual revenue of at least $300bn from its digital technology industry by 2030 under a new government programme aimed at positioning the sector as a central driver of economic growth and national competitiveness, Viet Nam News writes.

The programme, approved under Decision 840/QĐ-TTg issued on May 13, identifies digital technology as a strategic industry underpinning the country’s broader digital transformation ambitions, supporting targets for double-digit economic growth and helping Việt Nam achieve developed nation status by 2045.

Private companies are expected to play the leading role in the expansion, with an emphasis on developing large domestic technology groups. The state will focus on establishing legal frameworks, planning industrial infrastructure and generating market demand through national science, technology and digital transformation projects.

The initiative also promotes the “Made in Việt Nam” strategy, with the aim of increasing domestic ownership of core technologies and improving the global competitiveness of Vietnamese technology companies, VNN adds.

Under the plan, digital technology industry revenue is expected to grow at an annual average rate of at least 12% over the next five years. Export revenue from digital products and services is projected to reach at least $55bn by 2030, with annual export growth of 30% or more.

The government also aims to increase the number of digital technology companies to 100,000 and create more than 3mn industry jobs.

The programme seeks to strengthen Việt Nam’s role in global value chains and establish the country as a regional and international centre for digital technology manufacturing and services.

Authorities plan to develop between 16 and 20 concentrated digital technology zones nationwide, including at least one major digital technology hub linked to key economic regions.

At least one shared high-performance computing centre is also planned to support major national projects and advanced technological tasks. By 2045, Việt Nam aims to become one of the world’s leading digital technology industry centres, with the sector serving as a major pillar of economic growth and national prosperity.
