Consumer prices in Slovakia increased by 3.1% year-on-year (y/y) (chart) and by 0.2% month-on-month (m/m) in August, according to the flash estimate released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic on October 2.
This is the same y/y level as in August and also the lowest since the end of 2024, after August inflation eased on the 3.3% y/y growth registered in July and on the 3.5% in June.
It is also the first time Slovak statisticians introduced the flash estimate before releasing the final figures. “The flash estimate of harmonized inflation presents first results regarding consumer price development in the eurozone countries before the release of the final figures,” statisticians highlighted in their report.
The flash estimate also showed that y/y prices of industrial goods excluding energy were up by 2.7% (+0.5% m/m), while in energy prices rose by 13.8% (+1.3% m/m) and in services by 4.2% (+0.4% m/m).
Prices in food, alcohol and tobacco dropped by 2.2% y/y and by 0.9% m/m.
