Nigeria’s Dangote hopes to list fertiliser business in 2027

Nigeria’s Dangote Group hopes to list Dangote Fertiliser Ltd in 2027, founder Aliko Dangote said on September 29, bringing forward the timetable he had given publicly earlier this month.
Dangote made the remarks at an investors’ meeting at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, according to Reuters. “We hope to list it sometime next year,” he is quoted as saying.
The company currently operates a roughly $2.5bn fertiliser complex at Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos with annual urea capacity of about 3mn tonnes. Dangote said the business plans to add six production lines, with delivery expected from late 2028 or early 2029 and eventual annual capacity targeted at 12mn tonnes.
The proposed listing would therefore come before the bulk of the planned expansion is delivered, leaving investors exposed to both the existing business and execution of the growth programme.
Dangote had previously said the fertiliser business would be listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX). The September 29 remarks did not specify a new venue.
The fertiliser plan follows the September launch of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE’s public offering of 4.1bn shares at NGN525 each, worth about NGN2.15 trillion ($1.6bn). The offer opened on September 14 and is due to close on October 13.
Dangote was speaking in Nairobi ahead of the planned September 30 groundbreaking for the group’s proposed 700,000-bpd refinery in Lamu, Kenya.
No offer size or detailed timetable for the fertiliser listing has yet been disclosed.
