Lithuanian-led defence tech startup secures €40mn to scale up

Onodrim Industries, a defence technology startup headquartered in Amsterdam and led by Lithuanian executive Aistis Simaitis, has raised €40mn in fresh investment to accelerate its growth, the company said in a press release.
With the latest injection of capital, Onodrim Industries plans to scale its operations and position itself as a key player in Europe’s expanding defence innovation ecosystem.
The new financing comes amid a surge in investor interest in European defence technology, as governments across the continent ramp up military spending and prioritise domestic industrial capacity.
The funding round was backed by US venture capital firms Founders Fund and General Catalyst, alongside European investor Lakestar. The company said the capital will be directed towards expanding product development, increasing manufacturing capacity and recruiting additional specialists.
Simaitis, co-founder and chief executive, said the company’s broader mission is tied to Europe’s security environment, reshaped by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
"Onodrim's mission is to help secure a future of peace in Europe," he said as quoted in the press release. "The war in Ukraine has shown us how rapidly the character of conflict can change, and the reality is that nations seeking to strengthen their deterrence must adapt to this new geopolitical environment. That starts with rebuilding the foundations of strength from first principles — designing the defence-specific hardware, software, and industrial capacity needed for Europe to deter, defend, and lead in an increasingly contested world."
Founded to focus on Europe’s long-term resilience, Onodrim Industries develops advanced hardware and software systems for the defence sector. The company is building manufacturing capacity aimed at supporting sustained production in response to shifting security demands.
"As Europe prepares to mobilise nearly €800bn in defence spending by 2030, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape how that investment strengthens our security and industrial base," said co-founder Christian Garrett.
"With Onodrim, we're uniting the people and technology that can make Europe more resilient and ready for what's next, which we believe is Europe becoming the key pillar of the West's defence industrial base."
Law firm Freshfields advised Onodrim on the funding round.
