Iran's intelligence ministry said it had identified and arrested 39 people it described as operatives working for Israel and terrorist groups in Tehran, IRGC-linked Tasnim reported on March 25.

The ministry said 27 of those detained were members of two unnamed terrorist groups. It said one arrested individual had been attempting to establish an operational cell in Sistan and Baluchestan province using weapons that were seized before any action could be carried out.

Among items allegedly recovered from those detained, the ministry listed 49 improvised explosive devices, two Kalashnikov assault rifles, 16 handguns, more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition, Molotov cocktails, tear gas, a stun gun, explosive materials for manufacturing further devices and seven Starlink terminals.

Two of those arrested were described as conducting psychological operations online on behalf of Israeli interests. Others were accused of gathering and transmitting information on the locations of Iranian security forces to what the ministry described as foreign intelligence networks.

The claims have not been independently verified. Iran's intelligence services routinely announce mass arrests of alleged foreign agents during periods of heightened tension, and such announcements are difficult to corroborate. The ministry provided no names, nationalities or evidence, and neither Israel nor any other party has commented on the claims.

The announcement comes as Iran's security apparatus operates under sustained pressure following weeks of US and Israeli strikes and the killing of several senior officials, including the former supreme leader and intelligence minister.
