IDF expands ground invasion into Lebanon

Israeli troops are operating in the Shebaa Farms area of southern Lebanon near the Syrian border, as the IDF issued another evacuation warning to all Lebanese residents south of the Litani River.
The March 5 warning follows a similar directive issued the previous day, when the Israel-Hezbollah conflict intensified with both sides ramping up aerial attacks. Alerts sounded across the Gaza Envelope, Negev, and Dead Sea regions as the IDF struck sites in Beirut that same day.
The renewed evacuation order indicates Israel's apparent intention to extend its ground campaign. IDF operations now involve the 'Mountains' Brigade operating across multiple locations simultaneously in complex mountainous terrain, aiming to strengthen defensive positions in northern Israel and push Hezbollah forces further north of the Litani River, commander of the Tzabar Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel M.
This multi-front approach suggests Israel is transitioning from limited cross-border raids to more sustained territorial control operations, potentially establishing a broader buffer zone despite international pressure to adhere to the original ceasefire framework.
"Urgent warning to residents of southern Lebanon: You must immediately continue evacuating to the north of the Litani River," IDF Spokesman in Arabic Avichay Adraee posted on social media.
"We reiterate our confirmation that the alert also includes residents of the cities of Tyre and Bint Jbeil."
The IDF announced strikes on Hezbollah command centres in Beirut, whilst Lebanon's LBCI reported Israeli attacks on Nabatieh and verified strikes on southern Beirut suburbs. The Lebanese news agency reported that a vehicle on the Zahle-Karak highway was targeted, resulting in two deaths.
