Dubai Media Office has confirmed that a drone crashed into a building in Dubai Creek area of the city in the early hours of March 12, at approximately 2:45 a.m.
The building was evacuated to ensure resident safety, with a subsequent minor fire extinguished within minutes by civil defence teams.
Two people were injured after debris from intercepted drones fell in residential areas, according to authorities.
The incident follows escalating Iranian attacks on the UAE. On March 11, a fire erupted at Abu Dhabi International Airport after debris from an intercepted projectile fell, whilst two drones crashed near Dubai International Airport, injuring three people, two Ghanaians and one Bangladeshi, with minor injuries, and one Indian national sustaining moderate injuries.
The UAE Defence Ministry announced on the evening of March 11 that it had intercepted 13 missiles and 39 drones launched from Iran that day.
Since Iranian strikes on the UAE began on February 28, the country has engaged 268 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,514 drones up to March 11, according to the defence ministry.
The attacks have resulted in six deaths among Emirati, Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi citizens.
