Amazon plans to invest at least PLN23bn (€5.4bn) in Poland by 2028, aiming to strengthen its position in one of Europe’s most competitive e-commerce markets, the newspaper Puls Biznesu reported on April 22.

The US-based technology and e-commerce company is scaling up its operations in Poland as part of a broader strategy to expand logistics, technology and customer offerings tailored to local demand.

The investment is intended to reinforce Amazon’s standing in a fast-growing online retail sector, with Poland remaining a key battleground for both domestic platforms and global players.

Forecasts indicate continued rapid growth in Europe’s e-commerce market, with total value expected to rise from some €600bn to around €770bn in the coming years. In Poland alone, online sales could approach PLN200bn a year, according to Puls Biznesu, intensifying competition for customers.

A central component of Amazon’s investment will be the expansion of its logistics infrastructure. In 2026, the company plans to open a new fulfilment centre in Dobromierz with an area of 200,000 square metres. The facility is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs in its first year of operation and will be equipped with advanced robotics solutions.

Amazon has already made significant investments in Poland. Since 2012, the company’s total spending in the country has exceeded PLN45bn ($11.2bn), supporting around 19,000 jobs. Poland plays a significant role in Amazon’s European operational network.

The company is also expanding its digital services segment in Poland. Amazon’s Prime Video platform is investing in local productions, including entertainment programmes and documentaries.

Among the projects in development is a series focused on former (1995-2005) President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and his family, Puls Biznesu also wrote.
