Toyota Motor Corp has unveiled a new research and development hub aimed at advancing mobility products and services within its experimental Woven City in Susono, Shizuoka prefecture in central Japan according to Jiji Press.

The facility, known as Inventor Garage, is intended to accelerate the development of advanced technologies by combining Toyota’s manufacturing expertise with the capabilities of companies participating in the Woven City project.

The building comprises one basement level and two storeys above ground, with a total floor area of approximately 24,000 sq metres. It includes co-creation spaces, testing areas and accommodation facilities, some of which have been partially operational since April.

Toyota launched Woven City in Susono in September of 2025. The site currently hosts 24 companies, organisations and other participants from within and beyond the Toyota group, engaged in a broad range of demonstration projects. These include trials of autonomous driving technologies and robot-based delivery services.

According to Woven by Toyota, the subsidiary responsible for operating the site, research efforts also extend to artificial intelligence applications.
