Annual inflation in Uzbekistan remained unchanged at 6.4% in July, holding steady from June and down from 8.9% a year earlier, according to the national statistical committee.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.1% in July, following June's 0.6% increase. 

A decline in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices, mainly due to seasonal changes in fruit and vegetable prices, made the largest contribution to the monthly decline in consumer prices.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages reduced the monthly CPI by 0.38 percentage points (pp), while housing services, water, electricity, gas and other fuels and transport added a combined 0.12 pp. Other categories contributed 0.11 pp.

Since the beginning of the year, housing services, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, together with food and transport, accounted for 2.12 pp, or 67.1%, of cumulative inflation, while all remaining categories contributed a combined 1.04 pp, or 32.9%.

Inflation excluding changes in fruit and vegetable prices stood at 6.7% y/y in July, compared with 10.2% a year earlier. On a monthly basis, the adjusted CPI increased by 0.4%.

Food prices declined 0.9% m/m in July as seasonal factors pushed down fruit and vegetable prices, although prices for several staple products continued to rise. Annual food inflation stood at 6.4%.

Overall goods prices declined 0.4% m/m while increasing 6.3% y/y. Non-food prices rose 0.3% m/m and 6.0% y/y. Services prices increased 0.5% m/m and 6.6% y/y, compared with annual services inflation of 16.3% in July 2025.

Among other categories, annual inflation reached 3.0% for clothing and footwear, 3.8% for health, 6.1% for information and communications and 7.6% for restaurants and accommodation services.

In transport, gasoline prices rose 4.8% m/m and 21.7% y/y. AI-92 gasoline increased 3.9% over the month, AI-95 rose 8.5%, while AI-98 and AI-100 prices climbed 10.0%.

Propane prices increased 1.7% m/m and 34.6% y/y, while methane prices rose 0.3% m/m and 10.3% y/y.

Among passenger transport services:

• City bus fares: +1.4% m/m and +10.6% y/y (across Uzbekistan; in the Tashkent region alone, fares increased by 15.0% m/m)
• Intercity bus and similar road transport fares: +0.6% m/m and +6.8% y/y
• International airfares: +0.2% m/m and -9.4% y/y
• Domestic airfares: -0.9% m/m and -7.4% y/y
• Long-distance train fares: +0.4% m/m and +11.8% y/y

Housing-related costs also increased during the month. Household waste collection fees rose 2.7% nationwide and were 25.6% higher than a year earlier following updated tariffs in the Fergana region. Apartment building maintenance fees increased 0.6% m/m and 3.2% y/y following tariff revisions in the Navoi region. 

Residential maintenance, repair and security services rose 0.8% m/m and 6.0% y/y, while actual rents increased 0.3% over the month and 3.9% from a year earlier.

Annual inflation varied relatively little across Uzbekistan's regions, ranging from 5.4% in Syrdarya region to 6.9% in Tashkent city, with the committee reporting no sharp deviations from the national average.

The committee also noted that from January it expanded the CPI basket to 517 goods and services, from 510 previously, with monthly calculations based on more than 2mn price quotations. It continues to publish the official CPI using the modified arithmetic Young formula, while also releasing a supplementary index based on the geometric Young formula for analytical purposes following recommendations from the International Monetary Fund.
