Russian medtech market up 21% to $0.7bn in 2025

Russia’s medical technology market expanded by 21.4% year on year (y/y) in 2025, with combined revenue of the country’s 70 largest medtech companies reaching RUB60.6bn ($772mn), according to Kommersant daily citing Smart Ranking data.
Since foreign players pulled out of Russia after the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, the domestic pharma sector expanded rapidly and gave rise to five new billionaires.
Similar trends could now be observed in medtech, with telemedicine, medical software and locally produced medical devices having become key growth areas supported by state procurements and rising demand for domestic solutions.
The medical devices segment recorded the fastest growth in 2025, rising 38.1% y/y, according to Kommersant. The category includes developers and manufacturers of high-technology medical products ranging from cardiac and neurosurgery equipment to bionic prosthetics and aligners.
The research segment expanded 22% y/y, while telemedicine services grew 17.6% y/y and remained the market’s largest segment with total revenue of RUB21bn ($268mn). Telemedicine increased its market share to 35% in 2025 from 30% a year earlier due to lower service costs and partnerships with device manufacturers, insurers and laboratories.
The software development segment reduced its market share to 27%, although total revenue still increased 16.3% y/y to RUB16.6bn ($211mn) in 2025 following a decline in 2024. Analysts surveyed by Kommersant attributed the recovery to increased government procurement towards the end of the year.
Russia’s state-controlled lender Sberbank’s (SBER) healthcare platform SberZdorovye remained the market leader with revenue of RUB13.4bn ($171mn), up 26.3% y/y.
Other top five companies included bionic prosthetics producer Motorika with revenue of RUB7.1bn ($90mn), up 69.6% y/y, Rostelecom’s (RTKM) digital healthcare subsidiary Tsifromed with RUB3.2bn ($41mn), up 36.9% y/y, telemedicine provider Doctis with RUB2.5bn ($32mn), up 19.8% y/y, and insurance company Luchi with RUB2bn ($25mn), up 70.8% y/y.
The fastest-growing company was telemedicine service Prosebya, whose revenue increased 627% y/y to RUB80.7mn ($1mn), though the company reportedly said final contract revenue fell below expectations due to lengthy approval procedures.
Smart Ranking forecasts that the Russian medtech market will grow by 15%–17% y/y in 1H26.
