Russian internet major Yandex to buy flow marketplace Flowwow

Russia’s largest tech company Yandex (YNDX) is reportedly in negotiations to acquire the Russian division of online flower and gift marketplace Flowwow, with the deal potentially valued at RUB5.5bn-8bn ($61mn-89mn), reported RBC business portal citing multiple unnamed sources.
The acquisition would reportedly fold Flowwow’s local operations into the Yandex Eats platform, which already includes a flower delivery section.
Previous reports by Forbes also suggested that Flowwow could be up for sale.
Flowwow is said to be considering a split of its domestic and international business lines. While the company confirmed it is exploring “investment opportunities,” it declined to comment on any specific negotiations, valuation, or counterparties, according to RBC.
Flowwow told RBC that it had previously discussed both partial and full sale options with one of the leading marketplaces, but after talks ended, it refocused on organic growth.
The platform’s gross merchandise value (GMV) rose 80% to RUB17.2bn ($191mn) in 2024 and grew another 37% in 2025, drawing attention from potential investors. “Founders and management remain fully focused on operations and long-term development,” the company said in a statement.
Flowwow, registered in Moscow in July 2020, generated RUB4.2bn in revenue in 2024 and posted a net loss of RUB6.5mn, according to RBC’s corporate database.
In 2024 one of the longest-running corporate sagas in Russia came to an end after Yandex NV (the Dutch company founded by Arkady Volozh) completed a deal to sell all its Russian assets to the Russian Yandex, separating the two and finalising Volozh’s exit from Russia.
Some analysts feared that new domestic investors would drain Yandex of cash by claiming their dividends, as the tech major paid the first ever dividend of RUB80 per ordinary share for 2024.
However, Yandex continued expansion, announced a number of deals, while also reportedly reorganising its flagship driverless division.
