Iraqi armed factions call Baghdad rally to celebrate US troop exit

A group named the Central Committee for Mass Organisation called a Baghdad rally on September 30 to mark the US forces' exit from Iraq, a poster shows. The poster has not been independently verified.
The rally coincides with the formal end of the US-led coalition's mission in Iraq on September 30, when the last forces left the Kurdistan region, completing a two-phase withdrawal that began in September 2025.
The poster describes the event as a "first annual festival" under the slogan "We will not let you stay". It gives the time as 4pm at a street beside the Popular Mobilisation Forces media directorate, off Palestine Street in Baghdad, and invites the public.
It refers to the departing troops as "occupation forces" and praises the "martyrs" and the fighters of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a label used by Iran-backed armed groups.
Iran-backed groups have claimed the withdrawal as a victory. Kataib Hezbollah security official Abu Mujahid al-Assaf called it "the beginning of full sovereignty". The Ashab al-Kahaf group warned that any foreign presence on land or in the air would face a military response.
Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's security adviser, Qassim al-Araji, said the end of the coalition's mission did not mean the end of the partnership, describing a transition to bilateral security and intelligence co-operation.
Only two prominent pro-Tehran groups and Moqtada al-Sadr's faction have placed weapons under state control. Kataib Hezbollah has refused to disarm, and the government has pushed its disarmament deadline to June 30, 2027.
The Popular Mobilisation Forces is an umbrella of mostly Shia armed groups formed in 2014 to fight Islamic State. Many of its factions are aligned with Iran, and it is formally part of Iraq's security forces.
