Yemen's armed forces carried out a joint missile attack with Iran and Hezbollah on targets in southern Israel, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced on March 31, describing it as the third operation in what the group calls the "Sacred Jihad Battle."

"Our armed forces carried out the third military operation in the Sacred Jihad Battle and targeted sensitive Israeli enemy targets in southern occupied Palestine with ballistic missiles," Saree said in a video statement reported by Al Masirah.

Saree, who represents the unrecognised Yemeni authorities in the capital Sana'a, confirmed the operation was conducted "jointly with our mujahid brothers in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon" and said it had "successfully achieved its objectives."

The spokesman framed the attack as a religious and humanitarian duty in support of "the free people of our Islamic nation in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine."

The coordinated strike marks a deepening of military cooperation between Iran's so-called "axis of resistance" forces since the war began on February 28.

Sana'a entered the conflict with strikes on Israel in late March, raising fears they could also move to block the Bab al-Mandeb Strait between Yemen and Djibouti, a second critical chokepoint for global shipping.

Hezbollah has intensified its attacks on northern Israel since the start of the war, drawing a large-scale Israeli ground invasion into southern Lebanon that has killed more than 1,200 people and displaced over 1mn, according to Lebanese officials.

Ten Israeli soldiers have been killed in Lebanon since the ground operation began.
