India’s IndusInd Bank receives independent ESG rating

IndusInd Bank Ltd (NSE:INDUSINDBK) received an ESG rating of 69 from Crisil ESG Ratings & Analytics Ltd, according to a filing by the company with India’s stock exchanges.
The rating was assigned independently and was not commissioned by the bank, according to its regulatory filing. Crisil ESG Ratings based the assessment on publicly available information and applied its established methodology and rating process framework.
The assessment comes as environmental, social and governance measures become increasingly relevant to investors evaluating financial institutions, alongside traditional indicators such as asset quality, capital strength and profitability.
IndusInd Bank disclosed the rating under India’s Securities and Exchange Board’s listing requirements. The bank said it had not engaged Crisil ESG Ratings for the assessment, distinguishing the score from commissioned ratings or advisory exercises.
The lender provided investors with access to the rating through Crisil ESG Ratings’ website and said the disclosure had also been published on its own website. The rating covers the bank as assessed under Crisil ESG Ratings’ methodology, although the filing does not provide a detailed breakdown of the underlying environmental, social or governance scores.
For investors, the assessment offers an additional reference point for comparing IndusInd Bank with financial-sector peers on sustainability-related factors. The bank’s disclosure does not indicate that the rating changes its financing arrangements or operating strategy.
The independent nature of the assessment may also give investors a separately produced measure of ESG performance, while further methodology details and future ratings will determine how the score develops over time.
