IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir stated that Israel has succeeded in "suppressing" Iran's ballistic missile arsenal and that the military will proceed to the next phase of its campaign. The announcement came as Israeli forces continued systematic strikes targeting Iran's missile infrastructure and regime command centres.
The scale of operations has been substantial. By the evening of March 3, the IDF confirmed it had struck Iran with 5,000 munitions in total, whilst US Central Command announced American forces had deployed 2,000 munitions.
On March 4, Israeli Air Forces struck a compound in Isfahan used to store and launch ballistic missiles, including Ghadr missiles. The previous day, the IDF dismantled what it described as the most important Iranian leadership compound in Tehran, identified as the central headquarters of the ayatollahs' regime.
At 21:34 local time on March 5, the IDF announced strikes on over 200 targets across western and central Iran in its latest wave, with one of its main objectives being the disabling of Iran's ballistic missile launch capabilities.
"After completing the surprising opening strike phase, in which we created air superiority and suppressed the ballistic missile array, we are now moving to the next phase of the campaign, in which we will increase the damage to the foundations of the regime and its military capabilities," Zamir stated in a publicly broadcast statement.
"We have additional surprising moves in our hands, which I do not intend to reveal."
