Telekom Srbija said on May 8 that the Export-Import Bank of the United States has given final approval for financing to support the continued expansion of its 5G network in Serbia.

The approval from EXIM Bank will facilitate procurement of telecommunications equipment and related services supplied by American technology companies, the Serbian telecom operator said.

The financing marks the next step in cooperation following preliminary EXIM support granted in December 2024 for the preparation and development of Telekom Srbija’s 5G infrastructure.

“This is a historic approval for Telekom Srbija and for the development of a new generation digital infrastructure in the Western Balkans,” CEO Vladimir Lučić said in a statement. “Our cooperation with EXIM Bank and leading American technology partners confirms the trust of major international institutions in the strategy and financial strength of Telekom Srbija.”

The company commercially launched 5G services in Serbia in December 2025 and said it aims to provide coverage in all Serbian cities by end-2026, with nationwide coverage planned by end-2027.

The financing comes as Telekom Srbija expands its investment programme following a record year in 2025, when it reported revenues of €2.3bn, up 28.1% year-on-year, and adjusted EBITDA of €1.3bn, up 51.3%.

The group has recently strengthened its funding profile through international capital market activity, including a landmark Eurobond issuance and subsequent bond offerings, as well as improved credit ratings from major agencies.

Telekom Srbija said the 5G rollout is expected to support faster mobile connectivity, new digital services and industrial applications, and will play a role in preparations for Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
